Running on Empty: New Chart Shows White House Plan for Higher Gas Prices & Fewer Jobs

by Don Seymour, US House Speaker Office: In yesterday’s speech defending his failed energy policies – under which gas prices have nearly doubled and are rising faster than ever – President Obama called for the kind of “all of the above” energy strategy long-championed by Republicans. But far from supporting “all of the above,” the Obama administration has spent more than three years blocking efforts to expand energy production and bring down gas prices, while pushing job-crushing tax hikes and taxpayer-backed loans to companies like Solyndra. Here’s a look:

The president even sought to pin the blame for rising prices elsewhere, citing instability in the Middle East as one example. But as this chart shows, the Obama administration simply hasn’t focused on reducing our dependence on foreign energy. In fact, energy production on federal lands has dropped by 11 percent.

While these represent only a fraction of the Obama administration’s efforts to stifle new energy production, here’s a look at some of the key data points from above:
  • MARCH 7, 2009ABC News says the White House is closely monitoring the expedited Solyndra loan project even as it was delaying new American energy production that would help make us less dependent on foreign energy. Gas is $1.94 a gallon.
  • JUNE 27, 2009 - President Obama urges the Senate to adopt House Democrats’ “cap and trade” national energy tax, the same one the president once admitted would cause electricity rates to “necessarily skyrocket.” Then-GOP Leader Boehner later said the bill “would raise electricity prices, increase gasoline prices, and ship American jobs to countries like China and India.” Gas is $2.50 a gallon.
  • MARCH 31, 2010 – Instead of opening new areas to energy exploration and development, President Obama blocks deep-ocean energy production on 60 percent of America’s Outer Continental Shelf. Gas is $2.80 a gallon.
  • DECEMBER 1, 2010 The president re-imposes and expands the moratorium on offshore energy production. Gas is $2.86 a gallon.
  • JANUARY 2, 2011TIME reported that the Obama administration issued the first in a series of regulations on January 2 designed to unilaterally impose a national energy tax. Gas is $3.05 a gallon
  • JUNE 21, 2011 - The White House opposes the House-passed Jobs & Energy Permitting Act that would unlock an estimated 27 billion barrels of oil and 132 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Gas is $3.65 a gallon.
  • NOVEMBER 8, 2011 – The Obama Administration releases a plan for a five-year moratorium on offshore energy production, placing “some of the most promising energy resources in the world off-limits,” according to the House Natural Resources Committee. Gas is $3.42 a gallon.
Republicans are working to address high prices and create new jobs by removing government barriers to energy production and stopping policies that drive up costs. You can “like” the American Energy Initiative on Facebook and learn more about the GOP Plan for America’s Job Creators at jobs.GOP.gov.

Wasserman Schultz Spews More Crap

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-FL) and ChairAnimal for the DNC can prefabricate more crap that former Gov. Howard Dean (D) ever did. Wow, Howard Dean just received a low grade complement.

Real Clear Politics, no fiend of conservatives, reported the following:
Wasserman Schultz: Americans "Overwhelmingly" Support ObamaCare

DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz says Americans "overwhelmingly support" entitlements that are included in Obamacare.

Wasserman Schultz also calls the GOP field "extreme" and says they want to "tell women what we have to do with our bodies and control when and whether we could have a family by not allowing us access to contraception." . . . "by not allowing us access to contraception without a co-pay and without a deductible. That's why I say the one-word application to that field is extreme."
Wasserman-Schultz does not represent the beliefs of her district or the rest of Floridians. She represent the National DNC which has been hijacked a long time ago by extremist progressive socialist radicals and does the bidding not of her constituents but of the Obama machine. It is time for the Democrat's Darling Debbie to be retired!

ICYMI: RNC & NFRA Adopt Resolutions Exposing Agenda 21

Bill Smith, Editor, NFRA Member: I have been asked if the Republican Party cares about or knows about UN's Agenda 21 and its impact on the property and personal rights of American citizens. My answer has been yes. However, until the Republican National Committee publicly acknowledged the existence of Agenda 21 and the issues, it has been difficult to convince those who asked the question that the RNC is concerned. The RNC has done so now.

In addition, the identified "Conservative Wing of the Republican Party," the National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA) has also lead in the effort. It would do well for conservatives to align with the Republican Assemblies chapters. While these chapters and state organizations operate independent of the political structure of the RNC and republican state organizations, the members of the NFRA are active as conservative republicans voices within the Republican structured organizations.

Previously without such acknowledgment of Agenda 21 and is objectives by the RNC, it has been difficult to convince the general public including some conservatives that major threats exist to property rights of Americans under UN's Agenda 21. Agenda 21 agreements and funding via grants to government agencies and organizations carry with them obligations which can bind members and communities to international and UN agency agreements, regulations, etc., established by foreign nations or their representatives and which acceptable to the American citizens, our American beliefs and ideals, or our Constitutional rights. The biggest treat is to individual property rights and to community owned property. Threatened property rights include the ability to make individual decisions about ones own real property (land, water rights, mineral rights, use rights, etc.) and to personal property including livestock, use of animals, equipment, tools and eventually money and exclusive ownership of that property). Included is the threat of limiting a person's ability to use their own land or property or to even live and work in a one's geographic area / region. Relocation of humans appears to be part of Agenda 21.

National Federation Republican Assemblies:
UPDATE: The Republican National Committee approved the resolution exposing Agenda 21 at their Winter Meeting, January 13, 2012. The resolution will be recommended for adoption into the Republican Party Platform at the 2012 Convention. See the resolution (PDF) . Note: the resolution is the third from the top.

It has been reported that the Republican National Committee (RNC)passed a resolution exposing Agenda 21 for what it is: a disregard for American freedom, private property rights, and a key player in the Leftist move toward a one world government. Agenda 21 (ICLEI) assaults the very foundation of America. The RNC has not yet made an official statement or released the resolution. We call on the RNC to release this immediately, and we salute the individuals who signed this document.

Text of the RNC Resolution:
RNC Resolution Exposing United Nations Agenda 21
WHEREAS, the United Nations Agenda 21 is a comprehensive plan of extreme environmentalism, social engineering, and global political control that was initiated at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992; and,
WHEREAS, the United Nations Agenda 21 is being covertly pushed into local communities throughout the United States of America through the International Council of Local Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) through local “sustainable development” policies such as Smart Growth, Wildlands Project, Resilient Cities, Regional Visioning Projects, and other “Green” or “Alternative” projects; and
WHEREAS, this United Nations Agenda 21 plan of radical so-called “sustainable development” views the American way of life of private property ownership, single family homes, private car ownership and individual travel choices, and privately owned farms; all as destructive to the environment; and,
WHEREAS, according to the United Nations Agenda 21 policy, social justice is described as the right and opportunity of all people to benefit equally from the resources afforded us by society and the environment which would be accomplished by socialist/communist redistribution of wealth; and,
WHEREAS, according to the United Nations Agenda 21 policy National sovereignty is deemed a social injustice; now therefore be
RESOLVED, the Republican National Committee recognizes the destructive and insidious nature of United Nations Agenda 21 and hereby exposes to the public and public policy makers the dangerous intent of the plan; and therefore be it further
RESOLVED, that the U.S. government and no state or local government is legally bound by the United Nations Agenda 21 treaty in that it has never been endorsed by the (U.S.) Senate, and therefore be it further
RESOLVED, that the federal and state and local governments across the country be well informed of the underlying harmful implications of implementation of United Nations Agenda 21 destructive strategies for “sustainable development” and we hereby endorse rejection of its radical policies and rejection of any grant monies attached to it, and therefore be it further
RESOLVED, that upon the approval of this resolution the Republican National Committee shall deliver a copy of this resolution to each of the Republican members of Congress, all Republican candidates for Congress, all Republican candidates for President who qualify for RNC sanctioned debates, and to each Republican state and territorial party office.

The National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA) has long led the charge to restore conservative values and principles to the RNC, and we believe this is a sign that our message  is being heard. The NFRA Board passed a slate of resolutions at the NFRA Presidential Preference Convention in October 2011, including the following on Agenda 21:
NFRA RESOLUTION OPPOSING UNITED NATIONS’ COMPREHENSIVE LAND USE PLANNING
WHEREAS, the National Federation of Republican Assemblies recognizes that the pillars of freedom and liberty are life, liberty and property. As such, we seek to identify those candidates that understand and support these same noble characteristics of our great nation and that it is the combination of these truths that makes America “exceptional”; and
WHEREAS, some little known facts about comprehensive land use planning, known as Agenda 21 include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • The UN’s Agenda 21 was revealed to the world at the Rio Earth Summit II in 1992;
  • Agenda 21 was signed into soft law in 1992 and requires only administrative approval and not legislative approval;
  • The UN’s Agenda 21 was granted administrative approval when President Clinton, through Executive Order, created the first President’s Council on Sustainable Development;
  • The President’s Council on Sustainable Development created the domestic plan known as “Sustainable America”;
  • Official non-Government Organizations known as NGOs are certified through the UN based on their compliance and willingness to institute UN created policies like Agenda 21 and the "Wildlands Project". Examples of NGOs include, but are not limited to: the Sierra Club, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, American Planning Association, and ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability; formally known as the “International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.”;
  • GATT, NAFTA and other trade agreements also contain components that are derivatives from the economic components of Agenda 21;
  • Income redistribution as a form of “economic justice” is a tool to be used by Agenda 21;
  • Agenda 21 is anti-property rights;
  • The terms “Sustainable Development”, “Smart Growth”, "Comprehensive Land Use Plan”, and “Sustainable Agriculture” are domestic equivalents of Agenda 21; and
  • The Global Biodiversity Assessment Report identifies private property ownership, single family homes, traditional agriculture, and consumerism as “unsustainable.”; therefore be it
RESOLVED, that we, the National Federation of Republican Assemblies (NFRA), oppose the nondomestic policies of Agenda 21 based on failure to recognize private property rights as one of America’s cornerstones of freedom and liberty; be it further
RESOLVED, that Article one, Section ten of the Constitution prohibits any State or subordinate governmental body from contracting with nondomestic entities such as ICLEI; and be it
RESOLVEDthat the NFRA shall not endorse a candidate or elected official including the office of President that refuses to oppose the same.

Needed Protection for Bloggers

ARRA News Service - Protect Your Voice: The Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity called on CPAC 2012 attendees to sign a petition that aims to grant bloggers the same legal protection journalists have. According to American Journalism Review's 2009 analysis there were 30 percent less statehouse reporters then compared to 2003. While their grant has not been renewed to do the study since then, any reporter can attest to the continued cutbacks by walking into a newsroom.

Fortunately, a new wave of energized reporters has been filling those vacancies out of passion - many unpaid. These bloggers are dedicated to informing their citizenry of its elected officials’ actions. They are addressing the threat to democracy.

Because of this, we believe they deserve the same protections as reporters in the court room. We aim to protect the bloggers that are reporting on acts of government as meticulously and honestly as the journalist sitting next to him or her at the press conference. Citizen Journalists and Bloggers should not be penalized for providing a valuable service to our country. Citizen Journalists and Bloggers in every state deserve to be included in the state’s shield laws and granted Freedom of the Press rights.

Times have changed and it’s time for the law to adjust. Go to ProtectYourVoice.org to show your some post Valentine Day love for bloggers .

West: The Danger of A Nation of Dependents

Rep. Allen West
CPAC 2012 - Video Link
Rep. Allen West (R-FL): As someone who grew up in inner-city Atlanta, I understand there are times when people need whatever help they can find. The social safety net—in conjunction with generosity from neighborhood groups, churches, charities, and private companies—can help lift Americans out of poverty and toward the path of self-reliance and individual prosperity. However, that “net” should never turn into a “hammock”—and that is what this President and his policies are allowing.

What we see today with our vast social safety net is a growing and frightening dependency on the federal government, which is increasingly replacing our important local and private charitable efforts. The Heritage Foundation’s newly released 2012 Index of Dependency on Government show some stark details about a nation of reliance and how it’s devastating our nation’s fiscal future.

This annual study by The Heritage Foundation analyzes federal assistance programs for everything from housing, health care, and food stamps to college tuition and retirement assistance. And there are some alarming numbers indeed.
  • An estimated one in five Americans now receives aid from the federal government. That translates into more than 67.3 million Americans who rely on federal dollars for their way of life.
  • Additionally, the amount the average American receives in federal benefits jumped to $32,748 in 2010; this surpassed the average working American’s disposable personal income of $32,446.
  • At the same time, the federal taxpayer base continues to shrink, with nearly half of the U.S. population not paying any federal income taxes.
Is this a vision of President Obama’s doctrine of fairness and economic equality? Our democratic government is at risk when there are more Americans who are wedded to the federal government— either by subsistence or employment check—than federal taxpayers to pay for the rampant spending.

What do you think will happen when producers realize they are working for the entitlement class or the state, instead of their own families and the American dream? Eventually, they will stop producing. As Margaret Thatcher said, the government will “run out of other people’s money.”

I fear the future does not hold much hope for reversing this trend. With the impending retirement of 77 million baby boomers and the continued liberal march toward government involvement in all parts of life, the trend in the number of Americans dependent on Washington seems to have only one direction: up.

But I have hope. The essence of the American spirit does not want to be obliged to government for our daily routine. Americans want to fight for their independence and be successful providers for themselves and their families.

We in Congress need to do our part to aid the struggle for more personal responsibility. We need to reduce government spending levels so we are taking less from America’s producers of economic growth. We need to take a long, hard look at these assistance programs, eliminating duplicative efforts and directing aid first to the neediest of our population.

We also have to embolden charities, local groups, and private-sector initiatives to empower individuals through programs that require more “skin in the game.” Far too often, these good Samaritans are pushed aside by government zeal to provide inferior and bureaucratized services. And finally, we need to reform entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security so that they are viable for future generations without bankrupting our country.

Your independence is a precious gift, protected by the Constitution and enshrined in the Bill of Rights. Fight for it. I know I will.

Two Different Visions for America

ARRA News Service - American's For Prosperity: Two different visions for America. President Reagan launched his effort to return America to greatness with simple but profound words during his first inaugural speech, "In the present times Government is not the solution to our problems. Government is the problem."

From there he put words into action passing historic tax cuts, cutting back on onerous government regulations and the results of the President's free market policies: Growth, Prosperity, and Hope.

Happy Birthday President Reagan - we miss you!

The Three Most Important Action Items For The Next President

By Ken Blackwell, ARRA News Contributing Author: The first thing the next President must do is return America to sustainable economic prosperity. This begins with four actions: two to balance revenue with spending and two to unleash America’s potential. He should initiate a national campaign for a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution, capping federal spending at 18% of GDP.

Second, he should call for fundamental tax reform via a flat tax with generous exemptions for adults and children in the home and only two to three deductions.

Third, on his first day, he should sign dozens of Executive Orders repealing unhelpful regulations imposed during the past four years, from carbon emissions to health care to finance.

And fourth, he should launch a policy for national energy independence, beginning on his first day by approving the Keystone pipeline and opening certain federal lands to responsible oil and gas development and proposing legislation for an “all of the above” approach, with clean coal, oil, gas, nuclear and renewable energy.

The second thing the President must do is tackle the greatest short-term threat to national security by addressing the Middle East. He must begin a comprehensive review of the multilayered, interrelated issues that make the Middle East a Gordian knot. The three essential elements of any strategy must be:

1) that a nuclear-armed Iran will not be allowed under any circumstances;

2) that America resolutely stands by and for a fully defensible Israel;

3) the development of a proactive and coherent policy regarding the Arab Spring.

The third thing the President must do is nominate the right people to the federal judiciary, especially the Supreme Court. On his first day, he must start vetting candidates for every current vacancy on the 13 federal appellate courts and immediately begin developing a short list of potential nominees to the Supreme Court. The President must make unmistakably clear that seeing these nominees confirmed is a nonnegotiable priority and that the growing obstructionism of the past quarter-century — and especially the past decade — must end.

The courts concern all areas of national policy, beyond being of paramount importance for the social issues of abortion, marriage, religious liberty and gun rights. The courts play an increasingly central role in economic and security issues. He must declare originalism to be the official approach to interpreting the Constitution in accordance with the original meaning of its text and nominate judges who will faithful apply originalism on the bench.

Obama Approves Oil-Sands Pipeline! No, NotThe Keystone. . . .

The Obama Administration Approved A Different One In 2009, Arguing It Would Send ‘A Positive Economic Signal’

The Clipper Pipeline: Granted ‘A Presidential Permit’
“More than two years ago, on Aug. 20, 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton approved a 1,000-mile pipeline that has the capacity to send 800,000 barrels of oil a day from Canada’s oil sands…” (“Pre-Keystone, Obama Backed Sands Pipeline,” National Journal, 2/2/12)

“Sound familiar? The Keystone XL pipeline, as proposed by another Canadian company, TransCanada, would send up to 700,000 barrels of oil a day 1,700 miles from Hardisty, Alberta—the same town where the Enbridge pipeline known as the Alberta Clipper originates—to U.S. refineries on the Gulf Coast.” (“Pre-Keystone, Obama Backed Sands Pipeline,” National Journal, 2/2/12)

‘09 PERMIT RELEASE: ‘This Shovel-Ready Project Will Provide Construction Jobs’
“Approval of the permit sends a positive economic signal, in a difficult economic period, about the future reliability and availability of a portion of United States’ energy imports, and in the immediate term, this shovel-ready project will provide construction jobs for workers in the United States.” (U.S. Department Of State, “Permit For Alberta Clipper Pipeline Issued,” Press Release, 8/20/09)

“The Department found that the addition of crude oil pipeline capacity between Canada and the United States will advance a number of strategic interests of the United States. These included increasing the diversity of available supplies among the United States’ worldwide crude oil sources…” (U.S. Department Of State, “Permit For Alberta Clipper Pipeline Issued,” Press Release, 8/20/09)

“…on August 20, 2009, the Department issued a Presidential Permit to Enbridge Energy, Limited Partnership for the Alberta Clipper pipeline.” (U.S. Department Of State, “Permit For Alberta Clipper Pipeline Issued,” Press Release, 8/20/09)

Senate Dems ‘Didn’t Know About’ It
“…several senators… didn’t know about the Clipper oil-sands pipeline before being prompted about it.” (“Pre-Keystone, Obama Backed Sands Pipeline,” National Journal, 2/2/12)

SEN. MARY LANDRIEU (D-LA): “The same administration approved that one? … Then why aren’t they approving this one? I don’t know.” (“Pre-Keystone, Obama Backed Sands Pipeline,” National Journal, 2/2/12)

SEN. MARK UDALL (D-CO): “It speaks to the fact that the Keystone XL debate has been infused with presidential politics, partisan politics, and has not had enough to do with the discussion of how do we truly become energy self-reliant… I think there is a legitimate argument that it’s in the national interest to build the pipeline.” (“Pre-Keystone, Obama Backed Sands Pipeline,” National Journal, 2/2/12)
