Florida Lawmakers Pass Budgets Higher than Gov. Requested

Florida Governor Rick Scott had proposed a $65.9 billion budget. Both the House and Senate were not quite ready to go that low. The Senate has passed a $69.8 billion yesterday which was almost $4 Billion more than the Governor requested. and then the House passed its budget version totally 66.5 Billion which was $600 million over the Governor's request. While the Governor does not get a direct say in the legislature, it will be interesting to follow the reconciliation between the House and Senate over budgets exceeding even what the Governor requested.

Abel Harding is reporting, "GOP lawmakers who control both chambers are holding firm to their no-new-taxes commitment, with austere appropriations bills of nearly $70 billion that would slash almost $4 billion in spending."
