Dems Vote Against Health Care Transparency

For the second time this year the Democrats have voted against transparency and by voting against posting a bill online 72 hours before it the vote. Transparency was a huge theme in the last election, this administration claimed it would be the most transparent in history, and while this vote is not President Obama fault, it shows that the Democrats, as a whole, are not living up to the promises of last election. Posting bills online prior to a vote was specifically mentioned during the 2008 race, and now that it is no longer politically convenient, transparency has been thrown overboard.

ACORN Also A Problem for States

An interesting article on shows that the problem with ACORN is not just that they receive federal funding, but many states fund them as well. Pennsylvania, even after the recent video tapes showed the depth of ACORN's corruption, are not resisting calls to de-fund the organization.

Despite receiving a “cease and desist” notice from the Department of State to stop soliciting contributions, Pennsylvania taxpayers have given ACORN over $200,000 in state grants since November 2007. Yet none of the mainstream media in the Commonwealth is bothering to cover this issue. Nor has it reported on recent efforts to defend this rogue organization.

Jeff Lord, writing in The American Spectator, noted how Rep. Steve Barrar’s efforts to investigate ACORN’s activities in Pennsylvania are being stymied by Rep. Babette Josephs—a self-identified member of ACORN. Josephs is the Chair of the House State Government Committee—the committee where good government legislation goes to die.

Should “In God We Trust” be removed from US currency?

America, You Asked For It! - MSNBC has an online poll asking that very question. Oh how they probably want to see Americans vote "Yes!"

If so, they're most likely extremely disappointed. Currently, the vote stands 89% to 11% in favor of keeping the motto on our dollars and cents. Over 17 million have already voted.

So please do your part and help to keep the vote an overwhelming endorsement of the motto and continue letting the rest of the world know "In God We Trust!"

Daily-Kos Polls on Obama Birth Issue; Will Obama Become History's "Unnatural President"?

Bill Smith, Editor,ARRA News Service: While I wouldn't trust the leftist biased DailyKos polling numbers, I found it interesting that they polled Arkansas on the following Question:
Do you believe that Barack Obama was born in the United States of America or not?
      Yes    No    Not Sure
All   63     17     20
Dem   84      8     8
Rep   33     29     38
Ind   68     16     16

DailyKos added their opinion that "Two-thirds of Arkansas Republicans are deluded conspiracy theorists." Their polling numbers identify that 37% of those polled said no or not sure regarding Obama being born in the United States of America.

As with many polls, the DailyKos sought to highlight what we all already know. While it was interesting to poll what "what one believes." that is not the important issue. The important issue is "Was Barack Obama born in the United States of America?" A president should not leave 37% of those polled in doubt. Omitting even those classified as "birthers," a properly designed detailed polling question would yield a significantly higher percent for those in doubt of his citizenship. For example, the following question would yield a different results: "President Barack Obama has never allowed public access to his birth certificate by even the press and election officials to validate that he was a natural born American Citizen (born in Hawaii verses a foreign country or territory). This situation has caused some people to be concerned about Mr. Obama meeting the requirement of being a natural born citizen to be qualified to be the President of the United States as set forth in the U.S. Constitution. This issue has not been an unresolved issue previously in U.S. history. Note: that all citizens of the United States are required from time to time to provide their birth certificate to meet legal requirements or to obtain benefits and services. Do you believe that Barack Obama should make his birth certificate public to alleviate the unanswered question concerning his meeting the requirement of the U.S. Constitution and thereby allow the citizens of the United States of America to resolve this issue for all time?"

Like other citizens, I have been required to present my birth certificate on numerous occasions. For example, to be sworn in as a commissioned "regular" military officer, I had to provide my birth certificate to prove that I was born in the United States of America. To receive a Top Secret clearance, the U.S. Government investigated to see if I was born in the United States of America. For one of my sons to be validated as a natural-born American, both my wife and I had to provide proof to the State Department overseas and before a Federal Judge in the United States that we were both born in the United States of America. To get my previous diplomatic passport, I had to provide my birth certificate. And there are other situations for which I had to prove that I was born in the United States of America! They same is true for all other U.S. citizens.

While I am not part of or pursuing the interests of the "birther movement," both as a citizen and commissioned military officer, I expect President Obama to do no less than I have done. Mr. Obama is not a potentate but a citizen servant. I would expect him to resolve this issue by demonstrating leadership and by presenting any and all documentation to remove all doubt by citizens of the United States as to his being a natural-born citizen of the united States.

Like many others, I am disappointed that the traditional media failed to do their job and to address this issue prior to the primary so that this issue would not be an issue. They clearly showed a bias unequaled in history and their failure to do so will be judged by history.

It has been almost nine months since Barack Obama took the following oath of office to be President of the United States:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
He previously, took the following oath as Senator:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
By the taking both of these oaths, President Barack Obama has a responsibility to resolve this issue by laying before American citizens his birth certificate and by allowing the press public access to his original birth certificate. This issue will never be hidden in history by the things which Mr. Obama hopes to achieve as President or even by the things he does later in life. If not resolved, Mr. Obama will go down in history as the "Unnatural President" and his actions and his programs will be tainted in history. This can be easily resolved by Mr. Obama presenting his birth certificate as other Americans have done on numerous occasions.

Census Bureau Cuts Off Acorn

The Census Bureau has terminated its relationship with ACORN after tapes were released that showed staffers aiding a couple in the human trafficking of underage girls from El Salvador in order to establish a prostitution ring.

From Fox News Census Bureau Severs Ties With ACORN

The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census.

"Over the last several months, through ongoing communication with our regional offices, it is clear that ACORN's affiliation with the 2010 Census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 Census efforts," read a letter from Census Director Robert M. Groves to the president of ACORN.

"Unfortunately, we no longer have confidence that our national partnership agreement is being effectively managed through your many local offices. For the reasons stated, we therefore have decided to terminate the partnership," the letter said.

The news follows the firing Friday of two more ACORN employees after new hidden-camera footage showed workers for the group advising a couple posing as a pimp and prostitute how to subvert the law.

Kudos to the Census Department for Dumping ACORN

ACORN Promoting Prostitution & Tax Evasion -- #stopACORN #ACORN

Breaking Fox News: Census Bureau Severs Ties With ACORN
Stop ACORN Now Bill Smith, Editor, ARRA News Service: The following videos speak volumes about ACORN. But be sure to read the insights of James O'Keefe at where he describe his and Hannah Giles experience going in to a ACORN offices in Baltimore and posing as a pimp and a prostitute to ask for help which eventually opens to supporting a child prostitution ring. The "street wise" ACORN workers were more than willing to advise them on how to lie and defraud the U.S. taxpayers and to promote illegal child sex trafficking. See for yourself - Below are two videos of the event.

And while viewing the videos, consider a couple of points of interest relative to ACORN which are not mentioned in these videos or by the author. Consider who formerly trained ACORN workers (Barack Obama) and who was a former attorney for ACORN (Barack Obama) and who supports using ACORN provided workers in the U.S. Census (Barack Obama). Now Barack Obama is not the only supporter of ACORN, there are many others. ACORN receives millions of our tax dollars - some of which does go toward doing good things which mask the nefarious things done by ACORN. ACORN workers have been indicted for voter fraud. Other former ACORN workers have or are suing the National ACORN officials for ripping of ACORN money. ACORN has even made moves to change its name.

If I were counseling President Barack Obama, I be saying, you represent all the people of the Unites States and took an oath; you need to distance yourself from ACORN and call for an investigation. Your investigating the CIA when you should be investigating ACORN. But then again, maybe he cannot investigate ACORN. Maybe ACORN is a source for some of his ground troops needed to support his agenda. Or maybe ACORN has a proverbial "hidden record" of actions and transactions related to his association and activities with ACORN, its workers and its clients which, if made public, would bring an end to his time in office. He might even be getting a little nervous and showing anger toward those who do not trust him and see his actions as an infringement on their freedoms.

While getting angry at the actions displayed by the ACORN workers - who have already had their job rightly terminated - reflect on the creators of this web of corruption. These two ACORN women are not alone in their culpability; they are a product of ACORN's management and philosophy of operation.

A Tribute To 9-11 ....Never Forget - There She Stands

A patriotic photo montage set to Michael W. Smith's song "There She Stands", Dedicated to heroes of 9/11
H/T Wild Thing:
Here at Theodore's World we pay tribute to the thousands of lives murdered by the terrorists attacks on September 11, 2001. And we also remember their families and loved ones of the victims.

We will remember too how our country joined together as one. Flags flying everywhere, at homes, on vehicles, on buildings, in resort areas like Las Vegas turning their marques along the blvd. into massive American Flags with tributes of their own.

The unity embrassed us in our sorrow, in our shock, anger, hurt and pain. The final words of Todd Beamer "Let's Roll" seared into our hearts. Our resolve could not have been stronger, more determined.

We also pay Tribute to our troops that went to war to fight the terrorists and protect America. You will never be forgotten........NEVER.

Obama and his administration want to cheapen this day and use it for some kind of sick distorted propaganda telling people to join and work with Green the Block service events. To attempt to minimize what happened on 9-11 and in a betrayal to the lives lost, not only on 9-11 but to our troops as well that have served in the war fighting the terrorists as they seek out those that planned 9-11 and want future attacks on our country. He can pass all the bills he wants on this, make it a law and I will ignore each and every one of them.

Let us NEVER forget those nearly 3,000 innocent Americans who were murdered by the Islamists. We must not let Obama desecrate the memory of those Americans who were murdered by his fellow Muslims.

Pull the Trigger

by William Warren:
Trigger Health Care Option
"If President Obama's repackaged vision continues to press Americans for reforms they don’t want, his speech is not likely to settle the health care debate. Regardless, Democrats will press the will of their leaders and we should expect backdoor triggers to implement everything objectionable in all future legislation." - Dr. Bill Smith

What the President Should Have Said Tonight

from America, You Asked For It!

Yesterday, the President gave a pretty good speech. If he honestly believed what he said, and if those beliefs were manifested through his actions as President, it's doubtful he'd be facing the precipitous decline in his poll numbers.

Oh yeah...and he certainly wouldn't be promoting yet another government entitlement program.

Tonight he stood before Congress and read from his teleprompters once again. If he really wanted to save his presidency, he could have taken the same speech he gave yesterday and adapted it to an adult audience. Something along the lines of the following. (I've replaced some of the President's words from yesterday's speech and the words I've added are in bold.)

Click here to see this article with the President's words I've replaced struck through.

The President: Hello everyone – how’s everybody doing today? I’m here with Congress in Washington, DC. And we’ve got people tuning in from all across America, rich and poor, old and young. I’m glad you all could join us today.

I know that for many of you, the high unemployment rate and our weak economy have you a little nervous.

I know some of you are still adjusting to looking for work instead of working, having less money to spend on necessities and luxuries. But I’m here today because I have something important to discuss with you. I’m here because I want to talk with you about what’s expected of all of you as we work our way out of this recession.

Now I’ve given a lot of speeches about education this economic crisis. But I haven't talked a lot about personal responsibility.

I’ve talked about government helping you, but I haven't talked to you about helping yourselves.

I’ve talked a lot about your government’s responsibility for. taking care of you, making sure nobody should be held responsible for their irresponsible actions.

But at the end of the day, we can have the most supportive government, and the best intentions in the world – and none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities. Unless you stop viewing yourself as a victim; start asking yourself "what can I do to improve my life?"; and put in the hard work it takes to succeed.

And that’s what I want to focus on today: the responsibility each of you has for your station in life. I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself.

Every single one of you has something you’re good at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to yourself to discover what that is. That’s the opportunity that can make you successful.

Maybe you'll have to start at the bottom, not at the top of the pay scale. Maybe you'll have to give up your bass boat, your all-terrain vehicle, your brand new pickup truck, or even your 52" TV. But over time, you can work yourself up the ladder and into a position to once again have those luxuries.

And no matter what you do with your life – I guarantee that you’ll be proud of yourself if you work for it, if you earn it through your own efforts instead of taking it from the mouths of others who earned it. You want to be a doctor, or a teacher, or a police officer? You want to be a nurse or an architect, a lawyer or a member of our military? You’ve got to work for it and train for it and learn for it.

And this isn’t just important for your own life and your own future. What you make of your education will decide nothing less than the future of this country. How you deal with your situation today will determine whether we as a nation can meet our greatest challenges in the future.

You’ll need that American spirit that lives somewhere within every one of us, that's passed down from our founding fathers who came here for a better life and out of the wilderness created the greatest country in the world.

We need every single one of you to develop your talents, skills and intellect so you can help solve our most difficult problems. If you don’t do that you're letting down your country.

Now I know it’s not always easy to to step up and take responsibility for your own peace and security. I know a lot of you have challenges in your lives right now that can make it hard to take the risk, to step into the unknown when it seems more comfortable to stay put and let others foot the bill.

I get it. I know what that’s like. My father left my family when I was two years old, and I was raised by a single mother who struggled at times to pay the bills and wasn’t always able to give us things the other kids had. There were times when I missed having a father in my life. There were times when I was lonely and felt like I didn’t fit in.

So I wasn’t always as focused as I should have been. I did some things I’m not proud of, and got in more trouble than I should have. And my life could have easily taken a turn for the worse.

But I was fortunate. I realized what I'm asking you to realize and I did what it took to go to college, and law school, and follow my dreams. My wife, our First Lady Michelle Obama, has a similar story. Neither of her parents had gone to college, and they didn’t have much. But they worked hard, and she worked hard, so that she could go to the best schools in this country.

Some of you might not have some of those advantages. Maybe you don’t have family in your life who give you the support that you'd like. Maybe someone in your family has lost their job, and there’s not enough money to go around. Maybe you live in a neighborhood where you don’t feel safe, or have friends who are pressuring you to do things you know aren’t right.

But at the end of the day, the circumstances of your life – what you look like, where you come from, how much money you have, what you’ve got going on at home – that’s no excuse for turning to crime, giving up looking for work, or having a bad attitude. That’s no excuse for not trying.

Where you are right now doesn’t have to determine where you’ll end up. No one’s written your destiny for you. Here in America, you write your own destiny. You make your own future.

That’s what people like you are doing every day, all across America.

Young people like Jazmin Perez, from Roma, Texas. Jazmin didn’t speak English when she first started school. Hardly anyone in her hometown went to college, and neither of her parents had gone either. But she worked hard, earned good grades, got a scholarship to Brown University, and is now in graduate school, studying public health, on her way to being Dr. Jazmin Perez.

I’m thinking about Andoni Schultz, from Los Altos, California, who’s fought brain cancer since he was three. He’s endured all sorts of treatments and surgeries, one of which affected his memory, so it took him much longer – hundreds of extra hours – to do his schoolwork. But he never fell behind, and he’s headed to college this fall.

And then there’s Shantell Steve, from my hometown of Chicago, Illinois. Even when bouncing from foster home to foster home in the toughest neighborhoods, she managed to get a job at a local health center; start a program to keep young people out of gangs; and she’s on track to graduate high school with honors and go on to college.

Jazmin, Andoni and Shantell aren’t any different from any of you. They faced challenges in their lives just like you do. But they refused to give up. They chose to take responsibility for their lives and set goals for themselves. And I expect all of you to do the same.

That’s why today, I’m calling on each of you to set your own goals for your life – and to do everything you can to meet them. Your goal can be something as simple as speaking to three potential employers today, to finding a job (even if it's not the job you want) within the next week or month, or even to volunteer somewhere for a few hours a week to make yourself productive. Maybe you’ll decide to help tutor kids at school, volunteer at your local animal shelter, or become a Big Brother or Sister. Maybe you’ll decide to take a job at McDonalds, Wal-Mart, or a local convenience store.

Whatever you resolve to do, I want you to commit to it. I want you to really work at it.

I know that sometimes, you get the sense from TV that you can can't be rich and successful -- that the only ticket to success is through rapping or basketball or being a reality TV star, when chances are, you’re not going to be any of those things.

But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won’t love every job you have. You won’t click with every foreman, supervisor, or boss. Not every job assignment will seem enjoyable or desirable right this minute. And you won’t necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.

That’s OK. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who’ve had the most failures. JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was rejected twelve times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and he lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time. If you get in trouble, that doesn’t mean you’re a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to behave. If you get a bad grade lose your job, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid unemployable, it just means you need to spend more time studying work hard at finding a new job, or even develop new skills to make yourself more marketable.

No one’s born being good at things, you become good at things through hard work. You’re not a varsity athlete the first time you play a new sport. You don’t hit every note the first time you sing a song. You’ve got to practice. It’s the same with your schoolwork. You might have to do a math problem a few times before you get it right, or read something a few times before you understand it, or do a few drafts of a paper before it’s good enough to hand in.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. I do that every day. Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength. It shows you have the courage to admit when you don’t know something, and to learn something new. So find an adult someone you trust – a friend, a parent, grandparent or teacher; a coach or counselor coworker – and ask them to help you stay on track to meet your goals.

And even when you’re struggling, even when you’re discouraged, and you feel like other people have given up on you – don’t ever give up on yourself. Because when you give up on yourself, you give up on your country.

The story of America isn’t about people who quit when things got tough. It’s about people who kept going, who tried harder, who loved their country too much to do anything less than their best.

It’s the story of people who sat where you sit 250 years ago, and went on to wage a revolution and found this nation. Students who sat where you sit 75 years ago who overcame a Depression and won a world war; who fought for civil rights and put a man on the moon. People who sat where you sit 20 years ago who founded Google, Twitter and Facebook and changed the way we communicate with each other.

So today, I want to ask you, what’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?

Your children, spouses, and parents are counting on you. But you’ve got to do your part. So I expect you to get serious this year. I expect you to put your best effort into everything you do. I expect great things from each of you. So don’t let us down – don’t let your family or your country or yourself down. Make us all proud. I know you can do it.

Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.

But that's not what the President said. Instead he stood before America, read the lies scrolling acros his teleprompter, and once again insisted on the need for another huge government entitlement program. A program that will encourage fraud and abuse, and discourage personal responsibility.

But we didn't really expect anything more.

Unemployment Hits 9.7%; 3.1 Million Jobs Lost Since Stimulus Bill

Politico reports today, “August may be over, but it’s causing one last headache for the Obama administration as the jobless rate jumped up to 9.7%, the highest point yet this recession and higher than what economists expected from the monthly report. . . . The unemployment rate is now the highest since June 1983, and most economists believe it will eventually top 10%.”

Back in July, when it was reported that the June unemployment rate was 9.5%, Vice President Joe Biden told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, “The second hundred days [of the recovery package] you’re going to see a lot more jobs created.” But since then, the economy has lost 492,000 jobs.

Yesterday, Biden spoke at the Brookings Institution, touting the $787 billion stimulus bill. Biden said, “The Recovery Act has created or saved between 500,000 and 750,000 jobs. Matter of fact: some notable economists suggest the number is as high as a million.” Unfortunately, the reality is that 3.1 million jobs have been lost since February. In a fact check piece, the AP writes Biden’s “glowing assessment overlooks many of the program’s problems, including delays in releasing money, questionable spending priorities and project picks that are under investigation.”

The reality of the economic situation hasn’t reflected well on the Obama administration’s predictions about the stimulus bill. But even worse is  their predictions from February when they were trying to sell the stimulus bill to Congress. At the time, President Obama, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and a whole host of White House advisors claimed the bill would create 3 to 4 million jobs.  Yet, the facts have proven to be far different; since then, 3.1 million jobs have been lost.

Obamacare’s five flaws

Heritage Foundation expert Nina Owcharenko dissects "five major faults with the health care bills" being pushed in the House and Senate.

1. The public "option." Both proposals would create a government-run insurance plan which proponents claim would foster honest competition among private insurers. But how can there be fair competition when one of the players -- Washington -- is both writing the rules and playing the game? What's more, this scheme could lead millions of Americans to lose their private health insurance.

2. Centralized regulation. Both the House and Senate bills would result in sweeping and complex federal regulation of health insurance. This would take oversight away from states and concentrate it in Washington -- and this oversight is best left at the state level.

3. Greater dependency on government. Both bills would expand existing government health care programs and introduce massive new taxpayer-funded subsidies to buy health insurance. This would leave millions of Americans dependent on government for their health care.

4. Employer mandate. The plans would force employers to provide coverage for all employees or face a massive tax. These "play-or-pay" mandates will raise prices, stifle economic growth and particularly hurt low-wage earners.

5. Individual mandate. Both bills require that all Americans purchase health insurance. Those without coverage or whose plans don't meet the new federal standards would face tax penalties. Special interests are sure to "lobby intensively to expand the legally mandated health benefits, medical treatments and procedures, and drugs that all Americans must buy under penalty of law."

Taken together or individually, these flaws would inflict serious damage on an industry that represents one-sixth of our nation's economy. . . . [Full Story]

New Low Obama Approval Rating

New low for Obama approval--9/1/09
Presidential Job Approval - 9/1/09 Rasmussen Reports

Late last month, John Allison indicated President Obama might help himself by backing off the health care debate. That was back when he was at the forefront, staging town hall meetings with planted questions from children of supporters. It was a little over a month after his ABC infomercial from the White House. It was around the time Democratic leaders in Congress were calling those of us who opposed the bill un-American and just before the White House asked supporters to turn in Obamacare opponents.

Obama's poll numbers showed a slight uptick when his administration floated a trial balloon for health care reform without a public option, but a threatened mutiny from his far left base quickly shot that down. He then went back to a full court press, insisting there would be a public option and introducing the idea of using the "nuclear option" (a procedural technique for getting around the need for 60 votes in the US Senate) for the first time. Basically he went from trying to sell his plan to telling Americans if they didn't buy it, he'd cram it down their throats.

No, the President didn't drop back and punt. In fact, he didn't drop back at all until last week when he took his family on a millionaire's retreat on posh Martha's Vineyard. With Obama in search of a "news free week," health care almost dropped from the headlines. But it may have been too late.

Today's, Rasmussen's Daily Presidential Tracking Poll showed Obama with his lowest overall approval rating among likely voters since taking office. With only 45% supporting the President and 53% disapproving of the job he's done thus far, one might infer the quiet period came too late. Americans have now recognized this man will lie without conscience to get what he wants.

A majority of likely voters have finally realized Obama's change wasn't what they had in mind last November.
